The pressure/vacuum relief valve is a weight-loaded tank breather designed for atmospheric and low-pressure storage tanks. Mounted on the tank roof, it automatically vents overpressure to atmosphere and admits air under vacuum, protecting tanks from deformation or collapse while minimising vapour emissions and evaporation loss of stored product.

Size Range As configured: 8" inlet / 10" outlet, ASME Cl150 RF flanged. Series range: 2" – 12" inlet (DN50 – DN300), outlet typically one size larger.
Temperature Range Design: -13°C to +80°C (up to +130°C for kerosene / diesel service). Operating: 15 / 25 / 45°C (min / normal / max).
Set Pressure / Vacuum Set pressure: +15 mbar(g) (0.015 barg). Set vacuum: -3 mbar(g). Tank design limit: +20 / -4 mbar(g).
Operating Pressure 0.003 / 0.0075 / 0.012 barg (min / normal / max), under nitrogen blanketing control. Back pressure: 0 (direct vent to atmosphere).
|
Body Materials Body / bonnet / cover: ASTM A216 Gr. WCB cast carbon steel (standard); optional CF8 / CF8M cast stainless. Seat: metal seat (soft PTFE seat optional for tighter shut-off). Disc / pallet: 316 stainless steel. Nozzle / guide bushing: 316 stainless steel. Spring: carbon steel with corrosion-resistant coating (316 SS optional). Gaskets: PTFE / Viton (FKM) / EPDM per media. Wetted parts hardness-tested per NACE MR-0103.
|
|
Design Type Weight-loaded (gravity operated), closed bonnet, full nozzle, bolted top cap. Purely mechanical — no external power or actuator required. |
Capacity (API 2000) Outbreathing: 4709.2 Nm³/h (blanketing regulator failure open). Inbreathing: 2075.7 Nm³/h (gasoline) / 2216.5 Nm³/h (kerosene) at max pump-out + thermal contraction. |
|
Installation Tank roof mounted (nozzle N7). Test gag supplied on every unit. Lifting device required for valves over 45 kg. |
End Connections Inlet: 8" ASME Cl150 RF flange. Outlet: 10" ASME Cl150 RF flange. Cl300 / PN16 / PN25 available on request. Inlet pressure drop ≤ 3% of set pressure. |
|
Certification & Rating NACE MR-0103 required. ASME stamp required. Hazardous area: Class I Zone 2 IIA T3 (purely mechanical; electrical accessories must also meet the rating). Material cert: pressure parts EN 10204 3.1, others 2.2.
|
Service Media Gasoline, kerosene, diesel and other low-pressure hydrocarbon vapours. Typical densities 736 – 848 kg/m³. Emergency (fire-case) relief handled separately by ERV hatch, outside PVRV scope. |
|
Design Standard API 2000 (breathing capacity calculation), tank design +20 / -4 mbar(g). Reference calculation SDM-H-06-PR-CLC-0005. |
Applications Atmospheric and low-pressure storage tanks for gasoline, kerosene and diesel with nitrogen blanketing; internal floating-roof tanks; tank farms and loading terminals; hazardous-area tank protection. |
Pressure Vacuum Relief Valve Tank Breather Valve

Working principle:
- Purely mechanical, weight-operated — no external power, air supply or controller required
- Pressure pallet lifts when tank pressure exceeds +15 mbar(g); vacuum pallet opens at −3 mbar(g) to admit air
- Closed bonnet, full-nozzle flow path, bolted top cap for easy on-roof maintenance
